For those outside the body mod community, he was probably nothing more than a hacker and artist.
For people in the community, Shannon was a father figure of sorts. He founded BME in the early nineties, and by the time I was a teenager exploring body mod, Shannon and BME were there to welcome me into a community.

Shannon had been suffering from Tubular Aggregate Myopathy for the last 3 years at least, and I am glad he is free from the pain.
