Every time a story about Europe comes up on the news, especially in relation to a disagreement with the rest of the world, my father says that European civilization is going down and will not last two more centuries. He then goes on to say that  they deserve it because of the history of colonization and its a karmic debt that must be paid.  Basically it's time for Europe to get its comeuppance.

The undisguised glee in his voice makes me ill.
