Those of you in the US  and Canada  haveundoubtedly heard about the NHL lockout of their players.  As of now, the season is all but lost, and the following rant is the result of my furstration. Read at your own risk.

On the Insanity That is the NHL

The madness that is the NHL players vs. owners dispute is the most ridiculous thing since the Janet Jackson debacle.  The owners, after squandering a golden opportunity for expansion in the wake of the 1996 Stanley Cup, and wasting money by developing too many teams too fast, are now trying to salvage their pockets by forcing a salary cap on the players. Never mind that the average hockey player has less money and more injury potential than any other sport, including Rugby, which isn’t really played in the US. Let us also conveniently forget that the near total lack marketing and distribution of the NHL is in no ways the players’ fault. They’re the ones who smash each other to bits on ice, not the ones responsible for getting the show to the masses. So they owners have lost a shitload of money in the last seven years or so and are now trying to stuff their pockets in any way shape or form possible including outright robbery and denial of wages to their labour- the players. The rest )
